Bridestowe Lavender Estate is one of the world’s largest privately-owned lavender farm. With an estimated 650,000 plants, the lavender rows stretch for about 200 kilometres in total – enough to reach from our farm in the North East of Tassie to Central Hobart. Our guests at the farm love to get lost in the purple flowers, clean air and wide open spaces.
Founded in 1921 Bridestowe has grown only true French lavender, Lavandula angustifolia, for nearly one hundred years. This is the only lavender variety suitable for use in perfume and cooking. When our lavender flowers are harvested in Summer, a portion are dried and the remaining flowers are distilled to extract their fine oil. Our premium lavender oil and flowers are then used to create a wide range of beautiful products, from skin creams, teas, soaps and linen sachets to our famous Bobbie Bear heat packs and lavender ice creams.
All of this happens at Bridestowe and you can watch it in action throughout the year, taste test our products in our Café and browse through our extensive gift shop.
As the oldest and most respected global brand for fine oil, Bridestowe Lavender Farm has become a Tasmanian institution.
