Platypus anyone??? And not the usual timid, shy, dawn & dusk only types??? Ours at the bottom of the garden are so used to people they couldn’t care less about you as you watch them from our creek bank & care not a jot about the time of day they are out & about. Come & stay in Geeveston’s historic home where full cooked breakfasts are included, private guest entrance, & all modern facilities are available including free Wifi. Check us out on Tripadvisor. Geeveston ( aka “Rosehaven” ) is in the centre of the Huon Valley & home to Masaaki’s Sushi of international fame. Not to mention the fabulous fare at the “Old Bank” in the centre of town, as well as cafes, galleries & interesting shops such as “makers on church st”, “The Dusty Mermaid” & “Dr. Sawfish’s Hot Glass Studio”. Don’t miss the wonderful creations of master wood turner Ross of “Mikkris House” who you can watch at work in the Geeveston Town Hall. Wineries, cider houses, growers & local produce abound. Outdoors anyone??? We are the closest accommodation to the renewed Tahune Airwalk, Hartz Mtn. Nat. Park & further south is Cockle Creek – as far south in Australia as you can go. Underground anyone??? To visit Hastings Cave drive past stunning coastal vistas & through forests then swim in their thermal pool afterwards. Water fun anyone??? There is kayaking with Esperance Adventures, thrills on the Huon Jet Boat & calm water sailing on the lovely old “Yukon” in Franklin. Or simply take a walk on our gorgeous deserted local beaches. But best of all – come & see our platypus at play, any time, any day.
