In Beauty Point, overlooking the Tamar River, Jensens was originally built as his family home in early 1900’s by Jens August Jensen a Danish gold migrant. The fine homestead, one of the last remaining pieces of historic architecture in the area,  has large rooms and high ceilings. It’s filled with lovely antiques and its northerly aspect captures the sun all day.  The rotunda is the place to relax with a glass of wine overlooking the garden and superb view. Visitors say they never want to leave!

A warm welcome awaits you in the Blue or Rose Room, both have garden and river views with ensuite bathrooms, one with a claw foot bath.  The Drawing Room is a lovely place to relax in front of a roaring log fire on cooler evenings, there’s an extensive book and DVD library, stereo, cards games.. Enjoy a glass of port with our compliments. Full cooked and continental breakfast is served in the dining room or on the rotunda, featuring seasonal fruit, home made bread and preserves, locally sourced eggs and artisan bacon.

Beauty Point is on the West Tamar and is on the Tamar Valley Wine Route. The town is known for its friendliness and beauty overlooking the Tamar River. Near the gold town of Beaconsfield, the area was extensively planted with orchards, the fruit being exported around the world. The area’s natural beauty is now supplemented by great facilities, restaurants, café’s, Seahorse World, Platypus House, two yacht clubs and the Australian Maritime College.

Your host can arrange guided winery tours that include lunch or you can explore on your own.

In summer Tasmania has very long daylight hours (it can still be light at 9pm!) providing heaps of time to see and do lots each day while you’re here so please let us know what time you expect to arrive.

Beauty Point is a tiny township originally established as the first deep water port on the Tamar River. The town was first established as a port to service the nearby gold mine town of Beaconsfield. After the gold rush ended, it became a centre for the export of apples.

Situated on Port Dalrymple (the mouth of the Tamar River), Beauty Point lies in the heart of a rich sheep, cattle, fruit and vine-growing district. For more history, ask your host – after all the house is over 100 years old!

The property is no smoking and unsuitable for children
