  • KING RIVER RAFTING COVID19 PLAN The Tasmanian State Government requires every business in Tasmania to have a COVID 19 Plan to demonstrate COVID 19 control measures. These measures need to be relevant to the situation and accurately reflect the COVID 19 risk. Rafting in the open air with small individual groups can be considered a low risk activity. Nevertheless King River Rafting is cognizant that a COVID risk does exist and is implementing the following steps. START UP - TAHUNE King River Rafting will start commercial trips once the Tasmanian Government announce Stage 3 Restrictions. AIS Level C Return to Sport restrictions are expected to apply at the same time. Tasmanian Government recommendations will be followed. Hand hygiene and social distancing will apply where required. Initially trips will be weekends only on the Picton River. Public groups will be limited to 2 groups of six people. Larger single groups can be accommodated. START UP - QUEENSTOWN Rafting on the King River is expected to recommence in October 2020. Public Groups will be limited to two groups of eight people. SPECIAL COVID PRECAUTIONS Acknowledge existing COVID related signage at Tahune Adventure and the West Coast Wilderness Railway. Hand sanitiser available at changing facilities and people encouraged to use it. Hand sanitiser available in rafts for food preparation/eating & toileting. Brief guests Re requirements for AIS level C hygiene. Guides to be cognizant of social distancing & hygiene, especially when sharing accommodation. Guides to be ‘fit to work’. No colds or flu on the job. Unwell guides to be COVID tested prior to returning to work. Guides encourage to download ‘Covid Safe’ App. Where any KRR employee tests positive for COVID 19 Public Health Services & Workplace Tasmania to be notified & follow medical advice. Masks will be available for people who start to display flu like symptoms during the trip. All raft clothing to be cleaned at end of day. Multiple use of individual equipment in one day to be avoided where possible. Cleaning to be with soap/disinfectant & water and airdried.

At Queenstown we offer our King River Gorge Experiences.  A step up excitement from Tahune  here we raft a wild west coast gorge and return on a heritage steam train or maybe continue on to the mouth of the river at Macquarie Harbour.   Possibly exploring the tranquil middle King Gorge is more to your liking on our King River Gorge Explorer
