Jewellery inspired by Antarctic marine plankton

Oceanides was born from Karin’s PhD research in Antarctic marine biology. Karin spent many hours looking down a microscope and became fascinated with the intricate shapes and beauty of microscopic plankton. As a scientist, she realised she was privileged to see this and wanted to bring the beauty and importance of these creatures to the eyes of others.

Hobart is the gateway to Antarctica, and a love of the sea and our coastline is quintessentially Tasmanian. The organic forms of Oceanides jewellery are timeless, and customers range from 8 to 80+ years old!

Made by Karin from her home in southern Tasmania, the jewellery is elegantly packaged and accompanied by a story detailing the inspiration behind the design.
