The UNESCO World Heritage-listed Port Arthur Historic Site, located 90 minutes’ drive southeast of Hobart, brings Australia’s early convict history to life.
Here you can stand where convicts, soldiers, officers and their wives and children would have stood and really feel for yourself what life would have been like for them in the early part of our colonial history.
The Port Arthur Historic Site covers 100 acres of gardens and grounds, with more than 30 historic buildings and ruins to explore. COVID Safe measures are in place to protect visitors, staff and our community. Detailed information on these measures can be found on our website.
We strongly recommend you purchase your tickets online in advance. All entry passes are valid for two consecutive days and include a 40 minute guided tour and a 25 minute harbour cruise.
The spine-tingling Port Arthur Ghost Tours are operating every Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening. Tours are smaller and spaces are limited. Bookings are essential (no walk-ins). Please check website for tour times and to make your booking.
Come and connect with our past – and take home unforgettable memories for the future.
