On a visit to the St. Helens, Bay of Fires region treat yourselves to a “Unique Experience” at Priory Ridge Wines – a boutique Vineyard & Cellar Door. “OUR GRAPES – HAND PICKED – OUR WINES” Meet the producers of some fine cool climate wines from this iconic holiday area. Julie & David Llewellyn took possession of this special piece of family property in 2002. The fertile land in the Priory valley had been farmed over many years by Julie’s ancestors Reids/Cliffords, early settlers in the 1880’s. The decision to establish a vineyard was made following much detailed research and support from Tasmanian vignerons as well as a focus on the value it would add to employment and Tourism in North East Tasmania. After a short drive from St. Helens & Bay of Fires you will arrive at the quirky Cellar Door (a restored 100-year-old shearing shed), to taste award winning wines: Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. The ambiance of yesteryear construction and memorabilia of early settlers lining the walls will have you reminiscing. Stay a while – bring a picnic and take in the vista of the tranquil Priory Valley and the vineyard lining the banks of the George River. Today, the success of Priory Ridge Wines can be measured in the quality of the cool climate wines produced and enjoyed by consumers locally and throughout Australia.
