  • In preparation for returning to our daily Morning Heritage Cruise in September we are taking the necessary precautions to ensure the safety of our passengers and staff. We are conducting the necessary checks to be able to re-open in compliance with state regulations.

You will experience one of the most scenic and sought after cruises with one of Tasmania’s largest eco-tourism cruise operators, local family owned and operated World Heritage Cruises.

Located in Strahan, Tasmania, we offer cruises down the majestic Gordon River on our Heritage Morning Cruise. Enjoy the experience delivered by our first-class, purpose-built boat and friendly, professional team on a Gordon River cruise.

Hear the intriguing story of Macquarie Harbour and its settlement; Passage through Hells Gates the narrow entrance to Macquarie Harbour named by the convicts on their way to Sarah Island; See high-tech aquaculture where hundreds of thousands of Tasmania’s famous Atlantic Salmon and Ocean Trout are farmed; Cruise past the majesty of the rugged mountain ranges in Tasmania’s World Heritage listed South West Wilderness National Park; Spend two hours in the serenity of the imposing Gordon River, complete with a stroll into the rainforest, which reclaimed the land after the last Great Ice Age.

Step ashore Sarah Island and see some of Australia’s oldest convict ruins, a settlement which pre-dates Port Arthur by decades. Created to put the ‘fear of God’ into the convicts of Van Diemen’s Land, this tiny outpost of 18th Century British penal history hides a fascinating tale of human triumph over adversity, brought vividly to life by expert guides.

Listen to our skippers live commentary, which brings the river and its rich history to life to complete what is an unforgettable experience on the Gordon River.

Enjoy a delicious individually packed lunch with a selection of salads, cold meats, and more, all carefully prepared to suit COVID-19 safety standards.

Our Morning Heritage Cruise will resume on Tuesday 1st Sept 2020.

We are delighted that COVID–19 restrictions are easing and Tasmanians are free to travel around their state again.  Each year in July and August we are typically taking our scheduled maintenance break due to low visitor numbers and to keep The Red Boat ship shape.  We can not wait to see you in September on The Red Boat!
